OSHC
Out of School Hours Care consists of services providing care for school aged children, predominantly between the ages of 5-12, outside of school hours i.e. before school, after school and during vacation care periods. Care may also be provided on pupil free days and school early closures. Many services are operated on school sites, both public and private, and are facilitated by a mix of qualified and unqualified staff.
Educational, care and recreational programs are provided, and are based on the developmental needs, interests and experience of the children. All services are required to adhere to the national Quality Assurance standards (NCAC), if they qualify for Child Care Benefit.
If you are a new service or have not accessed the Gowrie Training Centre before, an Introduction pack is available to your service. Contained in this pack is a current Training Calendar, registration forms for membership to the Resource Centre, training discount card and sample publications. If you would like one of these packs, please contact the centre on 1800 129 606.

Are you opening a new OSHC service? You can now download a copy of the "Support kit for new operators to establish a new OSHC service". This booklet provides essential information new OSHC services will need to consider when setting up their service. Once you have received CCB approval you will also be eligible for support and consultancy services. If you are setting up a new OSHC service, contact the Professional Support Coordinator on 1800 129 606 or email enquiries@pscsa.org.au to discuss your needs. The template disc is available by request through the Professional Support Coordinator.
